Library Tour plus more….

On Wednesday I joined a small group of people to tour the Holyoke library. It was a privilege to gain access to such a beautiful building. We had a top to bottom tour from the basement to the roof top. Below are a few images. Where is the panorama? That will be up in the next few days.

Inside the children’s room.

Does anyone know what these are? They are stamps. I guess people used to use them on paper???

The first part of the soon to come panorama.

Taking an observation view from the roof top.

Some beautiful art work, resting on the floor.

Interesting how the new and old technology is fused together to help power the library. These wires represent different time periods from the current, (no pun intended) to a more dated time period.

Scale model of the future addition. Which come to find out is a rendition of what it could be, but chances are will be redeveloped.

I adore this church. Pictured below.

One of the most interesting features, well that I found to be interesting anyways, are the glass floors that are split between two floors of the library. I have seen glass floors before, but the way this set is was constructed, built, and designed is more integrated into the structure of the building. The fogged glass makes for an interesting image when someone is standing on the floor above you.

A quick walk and some photos

Myself and a few friends have a certain fondness for the buildings in Holyoke. There are a few in particular that we admire.

Gift to HFD

Today Tim Lastowski and I took a few minutes out of our day to make a small donation. Pictured here is a collage that I built from the Chestnut St fire that took place this past August.

Fire Collage JPG

This is just a small thank you for doing what they do. It is our way of showing the true appreciation and respect that we share for the HFD. They serve, protect, and give themselves for their community. A community that we are part of. The photographs in the collage are from the Chestnut st fire. The text in the middle is the Fire Fighters Prayer.

When I'm called to duty God
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.”

Beech St Fire

After arriving on the scene after the initial blaze was extinguished, we ( Tim Lastowski and I) stuck around to shoot the scene that was still playing out. This is what we captured…

True Resolution, Our business (Tim Lastowski and I) is going to be setting up a FUND (bank account) to help the displaced families of the recent fires. Please contact Jeffrey Byrnes 413.575.4350 or Tim Lastowski 413.297.8949 for details on making monetary donations. We will also be accepting donations of clothing, blankets, and food. PLEASE contact us if you are planning on making a donation.

Photographed here, Cesar Lopez, newly elected School Committee member is also working to help the families. Standing there, we over heard him discussing with the officer how they are going to be placing the families in a near by church to give them a place to stay and eat.
